Precision Ag Field Days for Farmers, Commercial Operators - 9/28/2009

(Middletown, DE) - Hoober, Inc. recently held a series of field days in Bridgeville, Delaware to give area farmers and commercial operators the chance to learn more about precision farming components and to try the technology first-hand.

Farmers were able to run combines, tractors, sprayers, and tillage equipment all of which had precision farming components. Commercial application operators were able to put self-propelled sprayers and floater trucks into action. Hoober's Precision Ag Specialists Ken Diller, Dave Wharry, and Marc Yoder were on-hand to discuss precision farming components and to answer questions. In addition, Hoober's Commercial Sprayer Support Team, as well as representatives from Case IH and other precision farming vendors were on-site to lend their support.

While the range of precision farming technology was well-represented during the field days, there were two areas that generated the most interest and attention from those in attendance.

"Guidance systems or the different types of steering, whether it was operator assisted steering or fully integrated steering was definitely something everyone was interested in," said Ken Diller. "The farmers were looking for the opportunity to come to the field, step into the machines and see what the technology can do. This field day provided that perfect opportunity.

"Another area that captured their attention was the automatic boom height control technology for sprayers," said Diller. "Again, the opportunity to run the sprayers and see what it can do for them was important. Plus seeing the accuracy you get with the guidance or steering systems and the other precision farming components makes quite an impression as well."

Hoober has been at the forefront of precision farming technology and Diller believes Hoober's experience and expertise is something farmers count on. "Farmers need a dealership that is going to stand behind them for everything, from equipment to parts and service support," said Diller, "and the same is true for precision farming technology. We're making sure we can deliver the best products and the best service along with a commitment to put our years of experience to work for our customers."

Diller said the success of the field days means it is likely that Hoober will be looking to do something similar in Pennsylvania sometime next year.
